"...God wants to restore to us the glorius faith of Jesus...to be People without Limits..."
Jesus said it 'You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free', and 'All things are possible to him who believes'. Did you notice that? How huge that is? All things are possible.
Ever since Jesus said those words, Satan has been trying to stop the people of God from believing and acting as if they were true. He has even used the Bible itself to bring us into bondage. Half-truths and misquotations have robbed us of our freedom in Christ. They have taken the vision from our eyes and removed the courage from our hearts. As our situation in the world around seems increasingly pressured and difficult, God is taking us back to basics. He is taking off limits that we ourselves have put upon our lives.
God wants to restore to us the glorious faith of Jesus. He lived in freedom, died and rose again so we could participate in his resurrection power and live his life. Jesus did not die on a cross to put us in religious shackles. He died to set us free; to be all that God has dreamed of us being.
The enemy wants to bring us into slavery - Jesus wants to take the shackles off our lives. The enemy wants to fill our minds with thoughts of difficulties and impossibilities - Jesus wants to set our minds free to dream the big dreams and believe that God is able to do ‘exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.’
People often think it is young people who use this kind of language. To them it seems sensible that as we get older we stop believing anything is possible. But when the apostle Paul wrote ‘He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us’, he was nearing the end of his ministry. In terms of his world, he was elderly.
But his passion and fire were fiercer than ever. Some of us have grown up with limitations in our own minds. The Lord wants to remove those limits. Others absorbed limits because we are immersed in an unbelieving and cynical culture. Jesus wants to remove them from us. Others have had fervent faith stripped from them by an unbelieving church.
The Lord longs to remove limitations imposed by the unbelieving ‘godly’. Still more have accepted limitations because of pressures and tragedies in their own experience. To them, it seems impossible that there should be a miracle-working God.
Yet rising above all these factors are these words ‘He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the power that is at work within us.’’
People Without Limits is a celebration of the power of God to change our lives, our churches and our communities. Join in to claim freedom from the limits the enemy has placed upon us. Then we may begin to see God’s revival power released in unbounded fashion.
